Food Revolution

I know I've said this a gazillion times, but we eat very little processed food.  For one, there's the gluten issue for Jas.  For me, I just don't have much desire or tolerance for it anymore.  As I've said, I eat protein first- usually a food such as nuts, or some sort of meat, sometimes a bit of yogurt, etc. I try to get in some vegetables, too, and that's about all I eat.  I get most of my food and almost all of my nutrients, for now, through protein shakes and special vitamin supplements.  Part of it is because food just doesn't sound good to me, and I keep cooking tasty recipes for my husband and other people, but only eat little bits of it.

I cook almost exclusively from scratch- probably 95% of stuff, save for
things like Tamari sauce that I don't make myself, or Pamela's gluten free mixes (I use the bread mix and the pancake/baking mix most frequently- I linked to them on the side!)- and though I already knew a lot about how bad processed foods are, I'm more glad than ever that we've already completely changed the way we eat in our family!

After watching Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution I am increasingly depressed at the state of American food.  I love Jamie Oliver, and this is a great show.

Google "jamie oliver pink slime" and try not to throw up in your mouth. I'll never eat another chicken nugget or chicken patty again.  Ugh.

Ok, must sleep now!  I have a great recipe to share, and some other lovely things rumbling around my head for later this week.

  1. Confession: You don't know me, and I read your blog.

I found it randomly on the City - I don't even know how I came across it, but I love it! Thank you for sharing your heart, your story, and your yummy recipes. I just made your Mac N Cheese tonight and it was YUM.

I just thought I should admit it now... Hope it's ok that an almost-basically-total stranger reads your blog. :)

  2. That's so sweet! I'm glad you like it, and I'm glad the mac & cheese turned out so well! Thanks for introducing yourself!

  3. I posted this on my blog, but I thought I'd post here just in case you thought I never responded...

"Tami - so much to chat about! Thank you for the compliments. Yes, that is my work up at MH. I've had a few series go through there and I love that people love it. It's really a great space for those huge pieces. We go to the Ballard Campus (these days, just when I am feeling well...). And you can check out our remodel before and afters at our family blog: http://www.emeraldcityingrams.blogspot.com/ :)"
